Bold. Rich. No filter (literally). French press is a trail-tested favorite at Expedition Grounds.
What You’ll Need:
-
French press (8-cup / 1L recommended)
-
Freshly ground Expedition Grounds coffee (coarse grind)
-
Hot water (just off the boil, ~200°F)
-
Timer
-
Wooden spoon or stir stick
Step-by-Step:
-
Scoop it – Use 2 tablespoons (10g) of coffee per 6 oz of water. For a full press: 8 tablespoons (40g).
-
Bloom it – Add just enough water to wet the grounds. Wait 30 seconds. You’ll see bubbles—that’s flavor waking up.
-
Fill it – Slowly pour the rest of your water in a circular motion.
-
Stir it – Gently stir once to break the top crust.
-
Steep it – Set a timer for 4 minutes and resist the urge to peek.
-
Press it – Press the plunger down slowly and evenly.
-
Pour it – Serve immediately and toast to the journey.
Pro Tip: If it tastes bitter, your grind may be too fine. If it’s watery, go a little finer next time.
